What Is Webflow? Features, Limits and Migration Guide

Webflow provides visual tools for designing websites, managing content and publishing. It combines some development tasks in one environment. Suitability depends on content, team and integration requirements, rather than promises of unlimited design or zero maintenance.

01

What does Webflow do, and where can it fit?

Webflow development can combine implementation, content structures and publishing setup. A design in Figma is not automatically an accessible website or functioning workflow. Webflow visual tools generate HTML, CSS and JavaScript; content and technical acceptance still require planning.

Corporate marketing sites, portfolios, blogs, team profiles and resource centers are possible uses. A working product application or complex order operation has different requirements. It is inaccurate to dismiss WordPress, Wix or Squarespace as necessarily inadequate or restricted to templates. Compare alternatives against your requirements.

Webflow’s published Dropbox Sign, Mural and Lattice stories discuss marketing and publishing workflows; its Unusual Ventures example discusses design and content. These are vendor case narratives, not evidence of each company’s entire product infrastructure or results your project will achieve.

02

Evaluate templates, custom design and learning effort together

Webflow implementation can involve custom design or adapting a template. Templates provide starting layouts, styles and interactions. A DIY approach requires learning time; professional support requires defined deliverables and acceptance criteria. Neither automatically produces a flawless website.

Understanding CSS classes, the box model, Grid/Flex layouts and responsive breakpoints helps use visual tools appropriately. Examine templates with real headings, images and mobile menus. Assess licensing, content structures, unnecessary elements, accessibility and the design areas you expect to change later.

Interactions can use scroll, click and pointer triggers. Current documentation includes Interactions with GSAP; do not assess every project through an old Interactions 2.0 description. Check reduced-motion needs, keyboard use and mobile resource consumption. More animation does not imply more conversions.

Model CMS Collections around publishing tasks

CMS requirements should treat an article, team member and service as different content types. Webflow Collections contain fields and items. Text, images, dates, references and multi-references can organize repeated content. This is different from an unrestricted general-purpose product database.

The legacy Editor became unavailable on August 4, 2026; plan daily publishing with current roles, seats and permissions. Native Localize provides options for adapting page and Collection content to language or region. Do not assume an external tool such as Weglot is mandatory. Define language URLs, metadata, translation ownership and freshness checks with either approach.

Team / portfolioProfile, image and related work.Checking changed information across related pages.
Service / case studyRelationship between a service and relevant case.Ensuring new material appears in the appropriate place.
Language versionLocale-specific content and metadata.Missing translations, URLs and language switching.
04

Verify SEO and performance on published pages

A technical SEO audit goes beyond the presence of dashboard controls. Webflow provides title, description, URL, alternative-text, sitemap and redirect settings. Check published canonicals, robots and language relationships. Not every old address requires a redirect; changed URLs need appropriate treatment.

Google’s current Core Web Vitals are LCP, INP and CLS; the original article’s FID is not presented as a current metric. Images, fonts, video, external tags and interactions affect loading, responsiveness and visual stability. Managed hosting and a CDN do not guarantee high scores or rankings.

Plan measurements for representative mobile pages. Serve appropriately sized images, consider modern formats, remove unnecessary scripts and examine shifting layouts. One homepage test cannot establish whole-site speed. Content usefulness, architecture and actual user tasks require separate assessment.

05

Managed infrastructure does not finish integration and maintenance work

In a Webflow and WordPress comparison, separate hosting from site-specific work. Webflow manages infrastructure and platform features such as SSL. Accounts, custom scripts, apps, data transfers and content errors still require owners. A closed-platform label does not eliminate every risk.

Custom-code fields support HTML, CSS and JavaScript, not PHP execution. Webflow Cloud can host full-stack applications through a separate development workflow. Assess the Data API, webhooks or connections such as Zapier against plan, permissions and operational limits. Do not expose secret credentials in browser code; define failures and retries.

Capacity and limits

Check current Collection/item, page, bandwidth, team-access and application allowances. A traffic spike does not imply unlimited capacity or guaranteed availability.

Backup and recovery

Examine restore-point scope and the effects on content, locales, inventory and integrations. A platform version is not a backup of every connected system’s data.

Support ownership

Platform support differs from custom-design and integration support. Specify monitoring, access, response and training responsibilities in the handover agreement.

06

Read plans and total costs against equivalent scope

A website budget includes development, content, licenses, training and maintenance. Webflow Site and Workspace plans have different purposes. A custom-domain site needs a suitable paid Site plan; code export or advanced collaboration can require different Workspace scope. A paid Workspace is not automatically necessary for every business.

Starter provides an environment for evaluation; check custom-domain publication and required features separately. On the current pricing page, account for new and legacy terms, monthly/yearly billing, localization, analytics, optimization and usage extras. The old fixed $29 CMS-plan figure is not a current quote.

For a Turkish business paying foreign-currency expenses, record invoice currency, taxes and payment terms without inventing a fixed exchange rate or total. Premium WordPress themes/plugins are not universally required. Which platform is more economical remains scope-dependent when delivery and time periods are equivalent.

07

Resolve payment and operating fit for commerce in Turkey first

Platform selection for commerce requires payment, inventory, shipping, returns and tax assessment. Native Webflow Ecommerce payment connections are Stripe and PayPal. Official documentation excludes Turkish merchant accounts from its PayPal integration. Stripe business-country eligibility needs separate verification too.

Do not assume iyzico or PayTR connects automatically to standard Webflow checkout. A site being accessible from Turkey does not establish support for every payment method or currency. A Webflow storefront with Shopify or WooCommerce can be evaluated; Shopify Buy Button is different from a complete headless application.

In a hybrid setup, assign product, cart, payment, order, returns and analytics responsibilities. Shopify does not automatically establish compatibility with all local providers; verify provider, country, account and integration requirements. Compare alternatives such as ikas against your operations too. Assess critical workflows in a controlled test environment before concluding suitability.

08

Plan migration from inventory through handover

The WordPress-to-Webflow migration checklist shows why a move involves remodeling and validation. Plan design changes separately from content transfer. Standard Webflow code export also does not carry every working CMS, localization, commerce, form and search feature. Record exit expectations early.

Compare DIY and agency options through relevant projects, scope, account ownership, training and maintenance. Verify partner status in the official directory; a title is not an outcome guarantee. For domains, use current project Publishing settings and official instructions. Avoid copying obsolete fixed A/CNAME recipes and preserve email DNS records.

Inventory and design

Record URLs, metadata, media and language relationships. Decide what to migrate, update or remove; define styles and static/dynamic page scope.

Model and transfer

Prepare fields and references. Import representative material through CSV or another suitable method; check media, relationships and metadata.

Accept and publish

Verify changed-URL redirects, mobile/keyboard tasks, forms and measurement. Assign domain/SSL, rollback and Search Console monitoring responsibilities.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Frequently asked questions

Do I need coding knowledge to use Webflow?

Basic pages and content can use visual tools. CSS and responsive principles help; custom apps, integrations and troubleshooting may require development knowledge.

Is Webflow free?

Starter supports evaluation. Check plans for custom-domain publishing and required features; separate Site, Workspace and add-on costs.

Does using Webflow in Turkey enable every payment method?

No. Site access differs from merchant eligibility. Verify Stripe/PayPal country conditions and local integrations; a hybrid arrangement is not automatic compatibility.

Does Webflow automatically provide good SEO and speed?

Controls and managed infrastructure provide a starting point. Content, resources, indexing and actual user experience need assessment. Rankings and Core Web Vitals are not guaranteed.

Is Weglot required for multiple languages?

No. Compare native Localize and external options against plans, content models and publishing tasks. Assign URL, metadata, translation and freshness responsibilities.

Does migration preserve all WordPress content and SEO automatically?

No. Inventory, field mapping, media/metadata checks and appropriate URL treatment are required. Monitor after launch; no ranking-loss guarantee is possible.
