Find a website icon

A lookup sends the domain to Google’s favicon service. Do not enter private or sensitive addresses. How it works

What is a favicon?

A favicon is the small icon that represents a website in browser tabs, bookmarks and other browser interfaces. The name comes from “favourite icon”. A recognisable favicon helps people identify your website when several tabs are open.

Favicons are part of a consistent visual identity, alongside your logo, typography and website design. Small icons need simple shapes and enough contrast to remain legible at compact sizes.

How does this free favicon downloader work?

Paste a public domain or website URL into the field. The tool keeps the hostname and requests a favicon image from Google’s favicon service, using the same lookup provider as our Turkish version. It does not crawl the website’s source code or extract every icon file.

The returned image may be cached, smaller than the requested size or a generic fallback. If you need a brand’s original artwork, use an authorised brand-assets page or the icon file linked by the website itself.

Download a favicon in three steps

  1. Enter a website. Use a public address such as prix-studio.com. A full URL works too; its path and query are discarded.
  2. Select Find favicon. Wait for the icon preview or a helpful error message.
  3. Save the image. Select Open icon to save, then use your browser’s Save image as option. On mobile, touch and hold the image.

How to find the original favicon manually

Open the website’s page source and look in the <head> for links with rel="icon", rel="shortcut icon" or rel="apple-touch-icon". Open the linked file, resolving any relative path against the website’s address.

Some sites also provide icon files through a web app manifest. Available formats can include ICO, PNG and SVG. This tool’s cached preview is not a substitute for checking those source files when you need a particular format or resolution.

When is a favicon downloader useful?

Designers and developers may need an icon for an authorised mockup, a bookmark interface, a website audit or a presentation. A quick preview can also help you check how your own brand appears outside the main website.

Downloading an icon does not grant permission to reuse another company’s branding. Check the owner’s terms and use licensed or original assets in published work.

Privacy and lookup limitations

Lookup requests go from your browser to Google. Only the hostname is included in the lookup URL; paths, query parameters and fragments are removed. Google also receives normal connection information, including your IP address, and its own privacy terms apply.

The tool does not require an account or save a lookup history in this page. Avoid entering sensitive internal addresses. A website that blocks access, has recently changed its favicon or has no available icon may produce an old image, a generic fallback or an error.

Frequently asked questions

Is the favicon downloader free?

Yes. You can look up one public website at a time without creating an account or paying for access.

How do I download the favicon?

Enter a public website address and select Find favicon. When the preview loads, select Open icon to save. In the new tab, use your browser’s Save image as option, or touch and hold the image on mobile.

Which file format and size will I get?

The download link opens the image returned by Google’s favicon service. The tool requests a 256-pixel image, but the available icon may be smaller or a fallback. It does not guarantee the original ICO or SVG file, every resolution, or a format conversion.

Why is the icon missing, outdated or generic?

Some websites have no favicon, block access or have recently changed their icon. Google’s cached image can differ from the current website, and the service may return a generic fallback. Try the website’s own icon link if you need the original file.

Can I download several favicons at once?

This version supports one website per lookup. Enter another domain to replace the current result. There is no bulk-download or ZIP feature.

What information is sent when I use the tool?

After you submit, your browser requests an image from Google’s favicon service using only the website hostname. URL paths, queries and fragments are removed. Google receives the image request and normal connection information such as your IP address. The lookup does not require an account or save search history in this page.

Can I reuse another website’s favicon?

Downloading an icon does not transfer ownership or grant a licence. Use your own assets or obtain permission where necessary, and respect the brand owner’s usage requirements.
