Choose the market, customer and category first
In an ecommerce product plan, ask both “What is popular?” and “To whom, where and under what conditions can I sell?” Amazon.com, Amazon.com.tr and other country stores are distinct markets. Language, needs, price levels, delivery and eligibility may differ.
Select one country and a relevant product subcategory, recording the observation date. A product with a middling main-category position may lead a narrow subcategory; this does not imply identical volume across Amazon. Document the competing product’s customer need, dimensions, use and package contents. Avoid treating superficially similar but different products as one comparable group. Amazon Türkiye’s own guide recommends validating an idea against customer needs and existing complaints.
What do Best Sellers lists and BSR show?
In store reporting, distinguish Best Sellers Rank from position in search results. BSR describes relative sales ranking within a category: a lower rank number means a higher position. Amazon says recent and historical sales contribute, with recent sales weighted more heavily. Rank is not a direct unit count or profit measure.
Open the target country’s Best Sellers list and relevant subcategory. One product can have different ranks in different categories; review count and star rating describe something else. Updates and visible delays depend on the source: KDP documents separate book-ranking and format rules. Do not assume hourly, instantaneous and complete data for every product. Record dated observations across different periods rather than using one screenshot as evidence of season-long demand.

Seven product groups to investigate
The product data quality checklist makes examples more comparable. The seven original categories remain useful starting ideas, without claims of current bestseller status or low competition. Supply, category permission and the customer’s actual problem belong in the investigation.
| Product group | Examples and first checks |
|---|---|
| Personal care | Face masks and hair/nail care: examine ingredients, claims, packaging and supplier documentation. |
| Pet products | Cat/dog food: review storage, shelf life, pack size and reliable replenishment. |
| Toys and games | Board games, cards, dolls, modelling clay, puzzles and model kits: investigate age suitability, small parts and missing-component complaints. |
| Technology | Camera and photography equipment: check compatibility, warranty and technical-support requirements. |
| Fitness | Mats, bands, dumbbells, bottles, knee supports, bags and smartwatches: distinguish size, durability, weight and compatibility. |
| Handmade products | Verify production capacity, repeatable quality, personalization and eligibility for the relevant programme. |
| Books | Check language, edition/format, readership and publishing/supply rights; do not compare with another category’s BSR. |
Find meaningful differences in care, games and fitness
For beauty product planning, social visibility alone is inadequate for stock decisions. These three detailed categories help narrow the need and specification. In your review analysis, check whom the sample represents and whether a complaint concerns the product itself or a mismatched expectation.
Personal care
Separate face/hair oils, skin strips, mascara, foundation, masks and nail polish. A peel-off mask or nail-design trend provides a research signal, not proof that everyone wants the product or will buy repeatedly.
Toys and games
Distinguish children, teenagers and adults. Cards, dolls, clay, puzzles and model kits can differ by language, age suitability, component count and storage. Verify licensed-character rights separately from the product concept.
Fitness
Separate home exercise from travel or gym use. Dumbbell shipping costs, mat surfaces, leak-proof bottles and smartwatch compatibility create different commercial questions. Avoid unsupported health-benefit promises.

Translate a trend into a customer-need hypothesis
In fashion and product strategy, turn a broad trend into a testable demand hypothesis. Old observations about post-pandemic health, hygiene and home products do not establish today’s sales. Social trends and general lifestyle narratives also cannot replace purchasing evidence.
| Original trend theme | Question to investigate now |
|---|---|
| Health, hygiene and home | Which specific need persists, and can product claims and eligibility be verified? |
| Everyday convenience | Which task becomes easier, and how complex is setup or use? |
| Meditation and astrology | Which product and customer segment shows demand; is category-wide inference justified? |
| Outdoor and social activities | Which season and geography support use, and does demand persist outside them? |
| Tea and beverages | What flavour, packaging and shelf-life needs exist; are health claims supported? |
| Recycled textiles | Is there supplier evidence for material/environmental claims, and how will sizing/returns work? |
Check unit economics before chasing volume
For product profitability assessment, deduct product cost, referral fees, logistics, packaging, storage, advertising and expected returns from sale proceeds. Keep tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive figures consistent. This contribution calculation differs from net profit after all business overhead.
Amazon Türkiye’s current fee information describes category- and fulfilment-dependent costs. Avoid copying an old screenshot’s commission or a temporary promotional rate. Small, light products may be easier to ship but still carry quality and return risks. For seasonal or perishable stock, document unsold inventory, replenishment time and cash requirements. Some products require category approval or brand authorization. Verify current conditions within your own Seller Central scope before ordering stock; appearance in a list does not establish permission to sell.
Validate the idea with a limited, traceable trial
Before catalogue operations, create a brief decision file covering the target market, customer problem, comparable products, cost assumptions, supplier limits and stop conditions. Where available to your account and market, Product Opportunity Explorer can help inspect search/purchasing trends and review/return insights. Do not assume identical access in every country or account.
Verify samples and product information first. Use limited inventory suited to your capacity, monitoring demand, advertising spend, delivery and return reasons. Copying a leading competitor’s title, imagery or brand does not create useful differentiation. Focus on accurate descriptions and service quality instead of purchased reviews or fabricated orders. Reassess findings across several commercial periods. Suitability for your business becomes defensible through this evidence, rather than the bestseller label alone.

Frequently asked questions
What is Amazon’s single best-selling product right now?
It depends on country, category and date. This article does not present a live first-place list. Check the target store’s current Best Sellers page and record your observation scope.
Are Türkiye and US lists identical?
No. Store structures, customer needs and commercial conditions can differ. Visible demand in one market does not automatically establish sales potential elsewhere.
Does low BSR guarantee high profit?
No. Rank concerns relative sales performance. Calculate the contribution remaining after fees, advertising, fulfilment and returns separately.
Are personal care, games and fitness still worth researching?
Yes, as example product groups. Do not order stock on the assumption that they are current leaders; validate the subcategory, supply and customer need.
Can I sell every product appearing in a list?
No. Approval or eligibility can depend on account, product, brand and category. Check current platform requirements before sourcing.
Is a one-day trend sufficient evidence?
It is generally weak evidence for durable demand. Combine observations across periods, customer complaints and sales/return results from a limited trial.
